On my Instagram feed, I describe myself as a novelist, Gammy, baking instructor, photographer, daily walker, time traveler, sometime poet and lover of good drinking chocolate at quiet cafes. That really does cover it.
On the food front, I am one of those people whose thoughts go straight to food memories when I think of my childhood. From our family’s Traditional Cake, to mom’s Lebkuchen cookies at Christmas to the year-long Sunday breakfast competition we had a few years back, great food has always taken me to my happy place.
I’m more delighted than I can say that both my daughters embrace a passion for deliciousness in the kitchen (although our palettes can be quite different at times)!
In recent years, the recipes I’ve tried and loved have been over-the-top fun to make. I have an insatiable curiosity for baking, so during the pandemic, I began studying seriously at an accredited online pastry school. The baking world opened up before my eyes! These days, I offer baking classes of my local community center, the Village Green, where I take great joy in what my students produce!
As an author, I’m thrilled to have just finished my second novel, The Way Back Home, this summer. I have turned it over to a literary consultant to help me navigate the publishing process. My first novel, Wool Dresses in Summer is back in my sights again, (are rewrites ever completely done?) and will hopefully start its publishing journey soon as well. Stay tuned!
